Lowland Search Dogs - Sussex is a non-profit voluntary organisation set up to assist the police in the search for missing and vulnerable people.
The organisation was started in March 2003 and has small team that are on call 24 hours a day 365 days a year.
The dogs are trained in air-scenting, trailing and victim recovery. All the dogs are assessed by the national organisation of Lowland Search Dogs before becoming operational. The team trains weekly throughout Sussex in a variety of rural settings including woodland, heathland and farmland
Call outs are exclusively via the police who are able to contact us and any time of the day or night to request our services. As members of Lowland Search Dogs we also provide support for other Lowland search teams should it be required, taking us to Hampshire, Dorset, Wiltshire, Berkshire, and Norfolk. In 2009 we were called upon for help 30 times.
